General Discussion / Re: How Much is a Donated Miles Ticket Worth?
« on: February 06, 2015, 02:47:33 PM »
From the Huffington Post

Rewards points that are acquired for free are not tax deductible because they were not paid for by the person making the donation.  Rewards points are only tax deductible if the points were purchased.  If you purchase them for the sole purpose of donation, you can use it as a write-off. The only time something is deemed tax deductible by the IRS is when it is paid for.

Although this refers to MILES not TICKETS.

Define free, and not purchased, i specifically pay annual fees and and keep certain cards open in order to obtain these miles/points, how is that not purchasing?

i get mail for get peyd all the time
this past week there was a whole slew of what seemed to be credit cards, to several different first names, same last name
and being that you are a normal human being you returned them to the owner right????

I've taken back an account after it expired.
therefore what? and ive misses davening before

You sold the account. Its not yours anymore.

Don't start making Yeshivisha cheshbonos, of when you could keep them.

For all you know this Non Jew that bought them off the broker re-sold them to a different Jew.
but then that different jew could have sold them off to a non jew, so we are back to square one

i dont understand your question, you sold the points, why is it your business what he does with them? Maybe he bought them and paid for them, so he can show his mother how many miles he can purchase. They are not yours period forever, yes id say this even if it was the day before they expire. If you have an issue with this, next time stipulate in your sale.

Just like when you go to a supermaket, the owner does not follow you home to make sure you use the item you bought from them.

Diff parts of the world I purchased them from Seri sweet

Raw coffee beans have a shelf life of two years. They are approx eight months old.

In order to use these beans you would need a roaster of some sort (a popcorn maker can be used if used correctly) a grinder and some way to brew the coffee.
