Maybe for meat. The breakfast "situation" in My Kafè is great.
My Cafe and Carmel are both great.

Flying into Milan from LHR - its looking like MXP is about 10 euro's cheaper (or 1k pts on the UR site) but LIN is to the city center and would be less to get to the city center. Anybody have thoughts on which airport would be better to fly into?

It costs around £5-10 to get from MXP on local shuttles

So aside from MyKafe and Carmel, what to do during an 8 hour connection in MXP?

Ever been to that boring City before?
Take a hop on/hop off open top bus to all the touristy and unexciting places. Ogle at all the ridiculously overpriced stores in Piazza del Duomo and have the pigeons outside land all over you.
Ride one of the city bikes along the canals.

Lake como. Little over an hour by car, not sure how long by train. Although if you're getting food don't know if you'll have time, traffic can be crazy in that city

Actually I have 10 hours to play with.

Is there anything to do at Lake Como in March?
Worth renting a car for?

It'll depend on the weather. if it's cold, being near the water may not be pleasant. I was there in April and the weather was perfect. como is a beautiful lake with mountain scenery, if that's your cup of tea. There are ferries/boat rides from various towns around the lake. In general, the area is full of churches and those are most of the main "attractions". Milan doesn't have much to do except eat and see the (overrated imo) Galleria Vittorio Emanuele.

I'd skip the food and just do Lake Como.  Wasn't impressed with the food. The lake on the other hand was spectacular.

Or I'd just chill. Get food. See the Duomo, walk around etc. Save Como when you have more time.

The deep fried calzone from carmel is just awesome, their ravioli is good as well, pizza was not. MyKafe was ok, but nothing special pretty good gilato.

Just driving around Como is so awesome. Driving all the way to bellagio, is 20 or so mile drive around the lake you won't forget. And in bellagio you can take a taxi across the lake and right back, don't even have to get out of your car, pretty neat experience having your car on the lake.

The biggest problem I see is an hour 20 to return a car and make checkin. May have been my experience but the car rental lot is very far from the terminal when I was there after hours, I think there may be a train during regular hours, someone else should weigh in. We waited 30 minutes for a bus to come and take us, or we could of taken a taxi for like 60 euro for the 5 minute drive.

Lake Como is one of the most stunning places I've been.
Do NOT just drive to Como and say you've seen the lake. Ugly city. Need to drive to Bellagio. Although the drive is crazy. Two way one lane road on the side of a cliff
Bellagio is also a quaint little town. Won't be much of anything to do though. Just walk around and chill. Will be too cold to jump into the lake (like I did in August)
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.
