Before going to the Monsey DDS, I thought Google Wallet was long dead. However, Dan mentioned that you can still send $250 once with a new account. I have a threshold to hit, so I opened up my GW account. Surprisingly, there was a 2.7 percent fee, so it would have been 7.22 to send $249. Maybe this is old news, but it was a surprise to me, and I don't recall Dan making mention of it at the DDS.
The deadline to make the $250 with no fee was July 16th.

That promotion was said to be thru 7/16. Dan said as much as well.  And so it was.
That deadline has been extended a few times, no one thought this time was for real.

Not before you send...they say it doesn't have to be gmail...I couldn't figure out how to accept the money with non gmail email so to make easier I would send to gmail account, even though they say it can work with any

Use a Google Wallet Card to Withdraw Cash from Visa Gift Cards
"Google's recently-launched physical Wallet card hasn't exactly taken the payments world by storm, but there may be one good reason to have one: using it to extract cash from Visa or Mastercard gift cards.

As reddit user ABZR points out, Visa and Mastercard gift cards can be linked to your Google Wallet account the same as other debit cards. You can then load up your Google Wallet balance with the gift cards. From there, you can withdraw cash from any ATM with your Wallet card. While there are sometimes fees associated with this transfer, Google has been waiving fees around the holidays, so if you need cash and have a Wallet card, now's the time."

Has this been discussed?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

That's from a year and a half ago. Good luck finding GCs that still work.
