From the Avis contract:
"Third Party Liability Waiver (TLDW) is mandatory (taxable)
Customers relying on their credit card coverage are required to purchase TLDW."
and that's what the clerk pointed at when I asked what the $14 a day was
So? What happened eventually? You had to pay it or did you manage to get away?

Well I still have the car for another 2 weeks but the clerk told me in advance what the total would be. I am not sure how I can get away from a mandatory 3rd party liability coverage... hence my OP. I was just wondering with all the talk around DDF about waiving underage and CDW that no-one has tried or succeeded in waiving that steep fee! Or at least I didn't find anything on the forums... Is it also only Avis?

There's no way around that.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

They don't know if you are going to rely on credit card coverage until u show up at the rental desk...

Are they good for one way rentals?
I have a res with national one way from CLE-ORD July 3-9 for $188 using uni of Ohio corp.
But I would feel mode comfortable going this way..  Should I? Does it make a diff?
Anyone have 7 reward certs for sale (if good for one way).?

Call billing and they should refund it if u don't have to pay it. otherwise just make a reservation at another company nearby.

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

This may have been discussed before and I apologize if it was.

When I know I have a 2 car level upgrade with avis what car should I rent? for example If a mini van (or any other type of special car)is only $10 more than a full size will it get me a better luxury car? etc... In short is there an official break down of car classes and what 2 car class upgrades would get you for each class?
