LONDON -(Dow Jones)- Research in Motion Ltd. (RIMM, RIM.T) said Monday it will offer a selection of apps worth more than $100 to BlackBerry customers affected by its service problems last week.
RIM's enterprise customers will also be offered one-month free technical support.
In a brief statement, RIM said the apps will be offered "free of charge to subscribers as an expression of appreciation for their patience during the recent service disruptions."
Co-Chief Executive Mike Lazaridis, who apologized for the outages last week, said the company is "grateful to our loyal BlackBerry customers for their patience", and will "work tirelessly to restore their confidence."
"We are taking immediate and aggressive steps to help prevent something like this from happening again," he added.
RIM fully restored services to its global network early last Thursday, and apologized for the prolonged outage, which started last Monday. The outage started with a failure in RIM's European data center and cascaded across the world.
The apps, which include Bejeweled, Bubble Bash 2, and Shazam Encore, will be available to customers over the coming weeks on BlackBerry App World until Dec. 31.
Current enterprise customers will be offered a complimentary one month extension of their existing technical support contract, and customers who don't have a technical support contract will be offered a one-month free trial, according to RIM.
