And that same line is repeated by mashpiim regarding 5 teves, bdays, etc.

From my yeshiva days I don't recall saying Tahanun on 5 teves while 18 Elul was more of a tossup.
I guess the world has changed since my Yeshivah years, and the yungeleit velt hasn't caught up...
In any case, I could at least see where someone is coming from with regards to Hey Teves, it is a חג הגאולה of sorts, and ח"י אלול being connected to the founding if Chassidus.

But what is the argument with regards to birthdays and Yimei hilula?
There is absolutely no מקור for skipping תחנון then.

The way I see it, someone somewhere is getting married or.turning 13, so out of ahavas yisroel and a real yearning for achdus yisroel I never say tachanun.

I will be taking applications for membership to jjism later this week :)) (pronounced jaygism with a soft g)

Another Chabad Minhag; no non-kosher animals in toys.
I'm calling grey area. Are you also going to include not going to college only eating Chabad schita...?

Those are haaros, hardly call them a minhag IMHO.

You can also say no meat during the 9 days even with a siyum.

Depends how you define a Minhag. The definition I've was that if the Rebbe either a) printed it or b) Spoke about it in a Mugah Sichah then it becomes a Chabad Minhag.
Non-Kosher Animals is discussed in a Likutey Sichos Chelek 25 page 309.
Meat during the 9 days even with a Siyum is printed in Sefer Haminhagim Page 46
Eating Chabad Shechitah is obviously a Chabad Minhag which goes back to The Alter Rebbe, the gray area is over how to define 'Chabad Shechitah'.

I hear how you define a minhag, but I still see much of the recent stuff as a hora.

This nuance has nothing to so with whether one does these "things" or not BTW. I can keep or ignore a hora and minhag just the same ;)
