What would be the absolutely smoothest bottle of wine?  For someone that does not appreciate complex wine tastes and just wants the easiest to drink.  I understand that cheap wines can be very smooth, the budget is up to around $150.
Located in Israel if that makes a difference.

And for someone that isn't so into it you are willing to spend $150 for a single bottle?

He may not be into the flavors of willow bark and peach fuzz with hints of jasmine and beetle but he knows prices and its a gift. He appreciates easy drinking bottles.

I'll be around the week before Pesach, no hemming and hawing. (Unless you're serving non kosher meat in which case I'll just have the wine)

I might do something with John Hajdu, barring that, if people split in, i'm happy to open wines.. I have about 400 bottles so there is really no limit and only a few are too sacred... like my domaine roses camile 2006, those are just too young, come back in 5-10 years

You do understand that many people are simply not decanting properly.. this is like you credit score..

60% is the wine
25% is the maturity
10% is decanting
5% is externals like wine glasses

Further muddled with stuff like food and external smells

A young great wine that was not decanted would show nothing..

With that said,

Tura Mountain peak
Gvaot Masada
Hebron Heights winery Machpela 2010
Yatir Forest 09-10
Recanati Wild vine carignan 2009-2010

none of these are 150, if you want to splurge, get domaine roses roses camile 2006 ;)

You cannot give a store bought current vintage to someone to drink now.. its a terrible mistake, thats why I keep hording french wines. JJ loves the royemount 11.. but that wine will peak in 3-5 years and drink till 2023

Thanks, I actually have 2 of those wines in my house currently. Didn't have to be $150, that was just the max.

I dont think you can drink wine erev pesach, maybe the night of bedikas chametz we can... after all, you need to check the wine cellar and the mishna clearly states you should have at least 2 rows of barrels ;)

Tell him to open the bottle 2 hours before drinking or in a decanter at least 45 minutes

If Hajdu comes in it will be a riot, if not, we should do an impromptu shirah tasting, we can do a wine dinner too, I can get a brisket smoked etc if there are enough people

Covenant is for rich new york jews, its great but go with hajdu or shirah

Covenant isn't "for rich new jews," rich new york jews, along with others, drink Covenant because it's great and not super exp.

Are you referring to the Napa Valley or the Red C?

I was talking about the Cab.. its a phenomenal wine but 80+ and should be aged 10 years.. Red C is a different story.. likewise Landsman club is Zinfandel, Syrah, Pinot noir

Correct me if i'm wrong,
The Covenant is a 100 Dollar bottle.
Get it any cheaper, and it's a bargain ?

Are there a few Covenants ?

Buy 4 save 15$ but any ways if you join the landsman club you can buy the covenant wines at a discount

In addition to receiving an allocation of these unique and limited wines, Landsman club members also receive a 15% discount on all Covenant, RED C and Solomon wines (shipping included on case purchases).

Its a bit confusing etc
