Could have been "swiped" at a grocery store or gas station... there are other threads on DDF that address this.

A police report won't do much for you except contributing to the statistics (and make you eligible for free freezing/unfreezing of your credit).

...which actually could be great depending on how into miles/Chase he wants to get.

My response was addressing his police-report inquiry, the point about freezing was parenthetical.

So that's what those curved lines are? The "(" and the ")"? :P

I was just pointing out that could be a small silver lining.

Or a setback with the 2/3bm and multiple pulls. YM (and strategy) MV.

Presumably, the entire reason you're freezing your reports is to force Chase to pull from a specific bureau. Being able to freeze for free helps further that goal. Being slapped more than once on that specific report when doing a 2/3BM is not different that any other 2/3BM.

Multiple pulls are more prevalent in 2/3bm situations when freezing.

Not if you push the apps through on the same phone call.

1. Not always a good idea IMHO
2. YMMV

i've had a couple bad charges over the past 20 years but nothing specific or traceable to churning.  sears card fell out of my wallet once and that was a disaster to take care of (sears sold cc operations to citi, i moved and never got the bills and found out about the whole thing 3 years later when the debt collector citi sold me to tracked me down - it took 6 months to fix).

i've had a couple waitresses "round up" their tips but those were easy to fix.

and i'll add that i've had more incorrect deposits than charges.  Direct deposit is a wonderful thing...     ;D

2 chase cards frauded this week. Both internet charges, payment rendering service $9, and today $50 I-tunes. The interesting part is I had 6 x $10 skype credits done today which I'll probably have to end up disputing because skype thinks my account is fraud(???). Really pissed at skype now. I thought Chase was calling me about those, but apparently not. Chase has been really tenacious about singling-out individual fraud charges. It' amazes me that they suspect it within 1 hour or so. Not once have I received a call on legit charges.

i had a fraudulent bunch of charges once back in the early 90's - pre-CVV days when I "lost" some cards.  A couple years ago, i had a waitress (who was a total wench and "deserved" the 0.xx tip she get) add a 1 to the tip to get 10.xx.  Of course, I caught it on the statement and disputed it.

Never really had a problem otherwise.  Until the past couple days trying to buy GCs for the gift chain thing.  Once I moved off wal-mart, 2/3 of the GCs get cancelled.  Now granted, the gift comes through within a minute (hint hint) but I really wanted the GCs for presents...  {grrr}

Any way you define that word it makes your story sound funny...

If an eatery did that to me I'd just chargeback the whole charge to punish the restaurant. YMoralsMV, consult an LOR...

#s 5,6,7 put it nicely.  not bothering with the other pages...  :-)

Just remembered more: I called the rest. first to tell them what happened and see what they'd do about it.  The guy argued with me, said she'd never do that, etc...  So, I told him he'd never see me in his rest. again and I'd make sure everyone I talked to knew what happened.  Total tool..

I called Chase and disputed it.  It was so obvious because I had my copy of the bill - and they had the carbon-less carbon-copy white & yellow receipts, not separate thermally printed ones.

LOR?  Local Orthodox Rabbi?  I've been faking Jewishness successfully this whole time?   :o
