google talk/chat for windows mobile

Iris Browser from http://www.torchmobile.com/
one of the benefits is that (unlike IE) it can work with Google Talk
(probably because it's based like Safari)

you mean its based on openWebKit, which Chrome and Safari use as well (I hate giving Apple credit for things they don't deserve- Safari is currently just an interface they designed for the open-source web kit designed for linux. They weren't even the first!).
Its the only openWebKit browser for Windows Mobile, and does some cool stuff.

funny that you can use it for GTalk... isn't there a native Gtalk client in the works? Or something using a SIP app like SJphone to plug into it? Gizmo project? These terms ring bells, but I haven't actually put them all together yet.

1) notice i said "like" not "on". i was not giving apple credit, just explaining that google assumes that you're connecting from an iphone.

2)although the app calls itself talk- i believe it only works as chat, not voice call....

1) Point taken. I do like that torch/iris identifies itself as Safari mobile. I found that useful when browsing facebook at first, then realized I don't like the iPhone facebook portal that much. :)

I've heard of google talk apps in the works, but I don't use it enough to have looked into it yet...
