Im looking to purchase this comp (or one just like...) but i know last yr there was a deal that it was just under 1000$. im wondering if anyone has come across this at a chpr price of discounts that im just not seeing.. I would love help pls! (and if anyone has this comp that would share pros/cons- or a better alternative to this...

TigerDirect has it for $1,249 (but the MS store offers a $100 coupon toward future purchases).

You can get the HP TouchSmart with similar specs for like $500 less without paying the Sony premium. Here's an example, HP currently has a $25 off coupon, use code SAVE25HP.

newegg has it for 1229.... im lookin for chpr though...
and im not fond of hp computers in general... is it really as good as a sony?

Every model is different, so I can't say for sure. I doubt the Sony is worth difference in price, but that's just my opinion.
