ExGingi: Good morning Dan, how's you day going?

Dan: It's going well, thanks for asking.

ExGingi: Wrong. Bh you woke up, thanks to Hashem as explained in modeh ani and even more in depth in inyanei shel toras hachasidus. If you would understand that sicha properly you would know that one doesn't simply wake up, it's not us who wake up, but rather thanks to the brachas of the rebbe and Hashem's help we wake up.

Those I called Mushrooms are doing nice work in CH. ALR doesn't need us for his Shlichus, and we don't need him for our frayaks.

It's due to G-d that we wake up. It's due to the Rebbe that it's worth it.

I am quite confident that you would have done very well with or without going to PIT .... And if you would have had 3.97, or 3.89, or any other mark, do you really think it could have made a difference?
+100
I'm sure you would've done just fine. especially considering
It took some time in LA, but did catch up with the "Chicago guys" who had a very strong l"k background within a few months there.
Just like you cought up on limudei kodesh in a few months you could've caught up on limudei chol in a few months.

As written? Is facetious. Obviously it's worth it for G-d, as AsherO said.

But there is an appreciation and understanding of the Eibishter waking me up and my mission for waking up that provides motivation and passion that I get from chassidus and the Rebbe to which I'm referring.

Today's Hayom Yom is very relevant. We are all on Shlichus!

I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Is that the same for a שליח ציבור as well?

It took some time in LA, but did catch up with the "Chicago guys" who had a very strong l"k background within a few months there.

I don't think that I'd have a 3.98 mba gpa without having gone to pit, but who knows.
I met a friend on Friday who I haven't seen in a while, and my conversation with him reminded me of this post.

Last I knew about my friend's son, he was going to attend Chicago. I asked my friend where his son was nowadays. The response astonished me. He said that his son was at MIT. Now, I knew his son was very smart, but wasn't sure I heard correctly. I asked my friend what his son is doing at MIT, to which he responded that he's there for the second year studying math. He added that his son is, unfortunately, currently not שומר תומ״צ.

So here we have it, being able to go to a top university doesn't require wasting time on English studies during teenage years.

Plenty of good jobs that don't require a degree necessarily but they still require learning a trade and having skills in x y or z.

If you're referring to who I think you're referring to, that guy is whip smart. Obviously the 4.0 GPAs don't have to learn "english" because they can teach themselves anything. The guy with the 95 IQ will never know math learn to read on an 8th grade level because he wasn't taught it in school.

That guy should definitely not be wasting his time learning English. He should be learning whatever he needs in order to be an ehrliche Yid, and learn a trade where he can earn a living doing what he enjoys.

For most trades learning English only helps you.

if it took you only a few months to catch up in Gemara maybe it would take you even less time to catch up in general studies

Your conclusion from that story could just as easily be that if only he sent his kid to PIT where he would've seen you can learn English, maths, etc and be an erirliche yid, he'd still be frum...

IDK. The father told me what he felt was the trigger, and possibly in PIT things would have been better. But none of that has anything to do with learning general studies.

As several people pointed out here, from various vantage points, there's no justification to waste precious time during teenage years on general studies rather than learning Torah.
