you actually get the free shipping for free. if you want to stream thats when you have to upgrade.

I thought so too until last month when they send me an email notifying me that my free amazon student account was expired (because my 6 months where over) and that they upgrading me to prime for $39 a year. I haven't seen any charges on my card yet though.
I am thinking about asking my college for a new .edu address so i can get the free amazon student again.

Mine still shows membership until July 2012. Btw if you are using a Google Apps based edu address then just add some periods to the email address...

Pretty sure they don't offer free Amazon Prime Student anymore... its $39/year, or half off regular price.

(That being said, I'm on my second free year.)
