Author Topic: Amex not giving even the original 25k for Platinum (Read 9525 times)

A couple of people have been telling me that they signed up for the platinum card via a referral email which should have gotten them 25k. Yet amex claims that hey have no record of them being solicited. They already sent the email to Amex yet they stil refuse to give it. What can else be done?

Ask the person who sent around the email for help?

What do you mean, isn't there a public offer for 25k? Won't they at least match to that? Did they try social media?

Their saying that their accounts "weren't solicited." This is the exact wording of the email:
Dear....
While we appreciate your interest in the offer you mentioned, please understand that this is an offer only for solicited Card members. Our records do not show your account solicited for this offer.

I understand that this may be disappointing to you, but because many of our offers are targeted to specific types of Card members, you can expect to see for which you may be eligible.

They are saying that about a public offer? They didn't get any signup bonus at all?

If this is the case, reply to the message with a link to the public offer explaining that the offer is public (not targeted) and the cardmember should be eligible.

I know 2 people who signed up for the Amex mercedes offer and didn't get any points either. They aren't getting anywhere. Since Amex cracked down on the games, its been impossible to talk sense when you are correct over there. My friends sent current screen shots , live links everything , the minute they hear its about an offer that doesn't show on your account, they just repeat the mantra . Different offers for different people.

But that's BS, the Amex MB offer seems to be a public link, I wasn't targeted and I got it. If I didn't get my 50k for the MB offer I'd fight for it.

its like hitting a brick wall. When they call the automatic response is - sorry we aren't authorized to alter any sign up bonuses. When they SM ( I think they tweeted too) they get the same insane response.

next time use a real link instead of you getting your referral points and them getting screwed

To come on DDF and ask for advise about is debatable.
But a link sent via referral is 100% as legitimate as any other official Amex link. So IMHO your line was out of line.

That's hardly true. I get emails literally every day from people who signed up from a friends referral and didn't get any miles at all and want my help.

Happened to me, too. Sent a second SM after one SM refusal and some tweets. I applied for the 25,000 offer link and wanted to be bumped to 50,000 which was confirmed by phone in August. No points posted at all. Now I got the 50,000.

I hear that's why I edited my post to IM"H"O. I have very little experience with referrals so I can't argue with that fact. But isn't that very weird . Its not some shtick dreamt up on DDF or such sites. Its an Amex promotion heavily advertised by themselves all over.

AMEX is awful with peer-to-peer referrals with giving bonuses and for people signing up for the cards.

IIRC there was a messup with the *wood card recently. Was that them?
Also are you so sure they are keeping correct track of your apps and approvals . Do you have a way of ensuring they aren't making mistakes. Or just with peer to peer its very often easily trackable so its obvious when they screw up?
