If you don't want to call it dead, don't. But for anyone who values their credit and wants to get a few signup bonuses a year, this game is too risky.

As far as dead, not even close. If you are in this for a few sign up bonuses a year my advice would be to stick with what you are doing. As far as risk each individual will have to decide that on their own. In order to make an informed decision you need to visit other forums to get all points of view.

no Cash advance charges, but all credit lines slashed, and shortly afterwards they shut me down completely.

How do you know if funding a Citi account was the reason? Did you pull your credit reports and see if Chase recently made an inquire? Did you open any accounts recently? Did your balances change on any of your cards recently?

I Don't know for sure, but in all likelyhood, it was this. It happened some two years ago.

This has happened to many people.  From what I heard, Citi is even suing some of the biggest abusers of this...

It sounds like it had nothing to do with funding with CC funding and more with the slash and burn that Chase was handing out.

It was told to me by a major businessowner from NY about a friend who did it to the tune of 7 figures over the years.  I don't see why he would lie about it, but I have no way of verifying.

I do not doubt you were told this. There is either more to the story or (insert your own words). Before this deal hit the public forums you could fund unlimited amount of accounts for up to 100k each. It was real easy to fund for over 7 figures and many did do this. Citi was aware of this and no way did it violate any T&C’s. You would call a Citi CRS to fund the Citi account with a Citi card. They knew exactly what was going on. Once it became public they put a limit of 7 accounts per person/SS#. Even with these limits you still could hit the 7 figure amount with say a spouse and/or children/parents. If they were suing people over this it would be all over the forums, especially the private ones.
