Tea Lounge in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY.

Live music, yuppie/hipster watching, comfy couches and pillows, great place to play a game and chill. Ask your LOR, but tea in a paper or glass cup should be fine. They also sell soft drinks, beer etc.

Rain-forest Cafe in Menlo Park Mall (Edison)

(50min from Bklyn)
Not Kosher food, but most drinks are fine...
I like this idea, do you know what the noise level is here?

from the people or the cafe?  ;) It was fairly empty, but they have music playing (when I was there, at some point they had Mattisyahu playing).... and of course it a rain forest... so you have animals moving and making noise, while the rain falls... etc.

Wouldn't suggest for a first date (many times not a second either...) but worked well for a 3rd...

We walked through the mall first... then went there...

Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant that doesn't seat you on the lap of the neighboring table?

I don't go out to fancy restaurants much (read: pretty much ever) and looking at the photos of some manhattan restaurants it looks like they encourage group discussions.

I am open to Dairy/Meat suggestions - Teaneck/Manhattan area - Nice ambiance.

Thanks!

The only restaurants I've ever really had someone sitting on top of me was at TPG NYC and Harbour Grill in MIA.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

Just off the top off my head when I at Abigale's I had a lot of room. I guess look at pics on their website to confirm. But you are right that many seat you on top of each other.

I think he means even within like a foot. CMIIW.  It is the norm in restaurants to sit near each other, I suppose someone that never goes out might find this disturbing even though most are used to it.

Also you can try and reserve Le Merais upstairs seating I think has more room.

Are you saying that was crowded or not? All I remember about that place was that the food was good.

Abigales is a great choice but remember make a reservation bec they close early ish.  Also le Maria does late. I loved wolf and lamb, not in top of the next person. The worst place ever was clubhouse - crazy loud and i litt sat next to some random girl also on a date. .....
If you have any questions please search and then ask. PM me for detailed help.
