I just called to close the card so as not to pay the AF, and they didn't try any retention, they just closed it.

I don't have time to deal with it now. I wasn't complaining, just commenting. I would think after all their customer acquisition costs, they would at least try to keep the ones the already have.

I think he was saying that instead of listening to the rep and closing it he should've HUCAd to get a rep that would offer retention.

I think he means if you finish the spend and get the bonus within the 60 days, you can ask retention to waive the fee since otherwise you would just close the account and get it refunded anyway since you already got the bonus.

Finish the spend? Isn't it 40k with first purchase?
