For those who want to churn and/or want to get the bonus without paying the annual fee: Wait until the A/F gets charged, pay it off with the rest of the bill, and the sign-up bonus will post (at the end of that billing cycle). Then call to close the account and ask to be refunded. They can't charge an A/F for a card you aren't using. You will not lose the miles once they are in your US Airways account.

It seems that if after you use the card you just let it sit unused for a couple months, they will then email you with a targeted offer for 15,000 more points for spending $750 a month for three months.

Thanks! Mine still says 0, although the rep told me her supervisor had to put it through. I hope they actually do...

When I said instantly I meant when I hung up the phone, I didn't check while I was on with him. To be honest I really doubted that he was giving me the points (he didnt seem too happy about it) I was really checking to confirm that they weren't there. Thankfully I was wrong.

What are u guys telling these reps? Do you need to quote an invite code or can I just call and try to bluff out 10k points?

There was no code on my mail offer, it just said 50k on first eligible purchase and payment of $89 annual fee. I told him if they won't match it and this is the kinda of customer service I should expect from Barclays then maybe I'll cancel the card. After a few minutes of fighting he caved.

I mentioned that I got the offer in the mail. They didn't ask for a code.

No-go. Agent i had on the phone (Sean) was really nice, tried everything that he was capable of doing, tried getting me a generic code, offered me a retention offer for bonus miles if i spend on the card, but was not able to issue the additional 10k without a code. Though if i would have it he would, even though i got the card in march.

Was not interesting in another pull. 2nd HUCA worked! Bh. Although she was hesitant at first bc I opened the card in May, but after some shmoozing, I got the extra 10K.

Btw, she did not ask for any verification of the offer (unless she was able to see on her end that my account was offered a 50K offer.)
>:(

Never saw the miles post, so I called up again. It was US who originally told me I'd get the miles. Today, a manager said that there's no way they could give out 10K extra miles so she got a rep from Barclays on the phone with us who told me my account can get 10K if I spend 1K. I guess that's better than nothing, but I'm going to call up again and fight. Using the logic dpk used.

Called again, got transferred a few times (having to repeat the story each time of course). Finally got a manager who would give me the 10K if I paid the annual fee of $89, which I argued was illogical since it was waived already. She put up a fight because this offer came out in September and I opened my card in May (ya, kinda stretching it a bit on my part) but finally I showed her that I did pay the AF way back when (and since then have been mailed a check for $89 from US ;) ) and then she agreed to give me the 10K! I didn't see it post instantly as dpk reported, but we shall see.

If there is no offer code how do you get a landing page of the offer
