For those who want to churn and/or want to get the bonus without paying the annual fee: Wait until the A/F gets charged, pay it off with the rest of the bill, and the sign-up bonus will post (at the end of that billing cycle). Then call to close the account and ask to be refunded. They can't charge an A/F for a card you aren't using. You will not lose the miles once they are in your US Airways account.

It seems that if after you use the card you just let it sit unused for a couple months, they will then email you with a targeted offer for 15,000 more points for spending $750 a month for three months.

Really? It works with the barclays aadvantage aviator card doing this? Does dan have a step by step write-up on how to do it? Thanks
What does "Barclays AAdvantage Aviator card" have to do with adding your AA FFN into a res that was booked through BA?

No need to sign up, you can access your reservation by entering your BA confirmation code and last name on the top right of the home page.

Yeah I see that now, thanks. It didn't pull up on mobile site. So I go in, put the number in, and when I click on edit details it says my frequent flyer program is BA, and it shows my BA number. It is frozen into the reservation, just like on Finnair website. Is there a way to get around this? ( I should mention that I'm flying from Toronto to NY and it says on top of screen that I can only change details of reservation on the phone, but I want to know if I'm doing something wrong...). Thanks again

Thanks for all the help. Will I have to always call and manually add it over the phone or going forward it will automatically show up on my booking on AA even when I book through BA?

guys there is a much easier way than using those horrific sites to find you reservation code. you can just go to manage my booking on BA and find "reserve seats" after you click it you'll see your AA res code.

You shouldn't need to call, but you'll always need to add it.

Eli.f,
Have you ever experienced that your frequent flyer program is BA and it's frozen into the reservation? I'm wondering if I can't change it because it's an international flight ( it says at the top of the screen that for international flights you have to call to change "details")

IIRC I was able to do it for int'l flight.
It's true that one can't change the flight online unless it's domestic.

Whats the deal with getting the annual fee waived with the card now that it switched into Aviator?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

I have done it on two cards. That itself is the best reason to give them. You didn't sign up for the aviator card.
