For those who want to churn and/or want to get the bonus without paying the annual fee: Wait until the A/F gets charged, pay it off with the rest of the bill, and the sign-up bonus will post (at the end of that billing cycle). Then call to close the account and ask to be refunded. They can't charge an A/F for a card you aren't using. You will not lose the miles once they are in your US Airways account.

It seems that if after you use the card you just let it sit unused for a couple months, they will then email you with a targeted offer for 15,000 more points for spending $750 a month for three months.

I have done it on two cards. That itself is the best reason to give them. You didn't sign up for the aviator card.
What do you mean? The US Airways also had an annual fee?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

So what kind of reason is it that "you didn't sign up for this card"? Is it lacking any significant benefits of the Barclay US Airways?

If I use a balance transfer offer and can't get the annual fee waived, can I downgrade to the free card and still keep the 0% BT offer?
Also does Barclays let you transfer credit from other card?

Weren't there points on that balance transfer? Like up to 10k? I can't even remember the terms (or how long ago I actually got the card.)

Thanks.
I called Barclays about keeping the BT offer if I downgrade, and was told they don't offer downgrades and this card. Is that correct? I vaguely recall a discussion about certain cards not being eligible to downgrade until the 1st year is complete. Is that the case with the Red Aviator?

If one is flying on an aa flight do you need to book with the aa aviator/barclays us airways to get the free baggage Benifit or as long as you show the card that will work also?

As long as the aadvantage number associated with the Aviator card is on the reservation, you should be fine.

Neither. Just add your AA FFN to the reservation.

How much time after the AF is charged do you have to cancel the card?

Any successful tactics to get fee waived?

The have the citi AA card and the Barclay's AA card. So I play one against the other. I told citi that I have the Barclay's card and they give the same benefits and i told Barclay's the same thing. I got both to waive the AF. Plus citi offered me for the next 16 months when I spend $1000 per month I will get 2x points per $
