It's a nebach. That's how you're supposed to look at it.
And be careful when you judge others.
He showed how he tried to be frum in the past, you gotta give him that much.
Hopefully he'll come around and be something, before he gets to weird

On one hand you are right. It is time to "move on" as you say. What's the pella, after all?

On the other hand, I think you underestimate the extent to which this still pains certain people. Maybe it's different if you're not a Lubavitcher? I think it's for sure different if you never knew him or dealt with him.
