1. UA lounge passes sell closer to $10
2. You'd need to get a pass for everyone on your reservation - let's say you're flying with two other peolpe
3. It's more difficult to buy access to other star alliance lounges. Less valuable now that US is leaving star alliance
4. If you're buying a last-minute trip it might be difficult to buy a pass in time. There's a value to not needing to buy a pass.

Valid points.

1. Even at $10, that's 80 times.
2. With two people its 40 times. And that's not 40 times in the airport, it's 40 times flying domestic UA.
3. This is one of the bigger things in favor of pulling the trigger: flying Y internationally is often a chore, though I've only done it twice in the past 4 years (both on the TLV glitches), and is often where you love access to a lounge.

So it boils down to:

--The viability of A3, and the likelihood they change the terms.
--How often you plan on flying domestic UA, or internationally in Y on *A carriers.

Also really depends on lots of unknown variables.

Does UA improve their lounges to compete with DL/AX/etc, raising prices and limiting free passes?
Do mileage redemptions go to cost based and makes flying J/F nearly impossible?
Does international free baggage get cut down to 0?
And of course, does Aegean change their terms or go bankrupt?

--I don't see UA limiting free passes on UA card, and even less likely is that they actually improve their lounges. (I'd sooner be willing to bet Chase follows a Amex policy al tiftach peh.)
--And risk the cash cow that is banks buying $$ billions in miles to hold the carrot in front of us little wabbits? Not going to happen. They'll just devalue, or release fewer award seats. They control everything in this scenario. Destroying the carrot only shects the cow.

When you look at the detail for an individual fare it says the total mileage on the right side of the screen.
For planning purposes, you can't beat gcmap.com

He didn't explain why either..... He showed the wrong thing, he showed a reservation in the syastem that most be purchased until the next day, you gotta go in to the fare basis in order to see when the promo expires.

I am not a TA, I deal with one. He told me it takes a few minutes to check the fare basis and he didn't have extra time to check it, he just told me that what HolyNyc wrote is incorrect.

I told united at check-in that I want to credit to Aegean,I gave him my miles and bonus number,he says "yes yes" I looked on bording pass and didn't see it,so I went back to ask him, he says " I put it in your united miles....

So make sure to look on bording pass under name what it says.

Now how do I get the miles in Aegean,I don't see it there yet? I went to their web site and I see option to claim air miles,do I actually have to do that? and even if I want to do it,the system doesn't give me a choice to write NYC-SEA,they only have a few choices.

Yeah, AJK showed me that also, but I'm clearly not so good with it as it's pulling up over $1000. I searched OW LGA-SEA with X:IAH and it's $495 the entire September.
