If someone is intrsted in medicine but doesnt want to take the long haul of becoming a doctor, male nurse can be a great option. The advantage over PA is that there are no prereqs, Schooling can be quicker, and in the end you can become your own boss (i.e nurse practitioner) as opposed to PA who is always working under someone (who wants to be called an assistant their whole life; sorry all you PAs out their)
But remember that for certain fields, being a PA is more desirable (dermatology, plastic surgery etc... At least in my state). Of course for primary care NP is probably better though
Also, becoming a NP is a little more annoying as you have to first do two years of nursing then a masters. PA is just prerequisites and 2 years of a masters program. so for example if someone who already has a BA in biology (meaning he/she already has most prerequisites) its much easier to go the PA route because its just two more years.
So it really just depends.
Also just to note: If you are working as a nurse at a hospital and they like you they might pay for you to do the masters program to become an NP! So what i'm saying is that there is a lot of room for advancement in the nursing field which is really great
