PA is a good field if u wanna do the doctor thing (diagnose, treat and prescribe meds to patients) but skip the med school process however beware- the prerequesites are brutal: anatomy and physiology, chemistry, microbiology, statistics, and hands on patient care experience etc etc
+1
If someone is intrsted in medicine but doesnt want to take the long haul of becoming a doctor, male nurse can be a great option. The advantage over PA is that there are no prereqs, Schooling can be quicker, and in the end you can become your own boss (i.e nurse practitioner) as opposed to PA who is always working under someone (who wants to be called an assistant their whole life; sorry all you PAs out their)

Assuming you go back to school for that.

Generally, PAs > nurse.

However, certain types of nurses > PAs.

That's definite. Even some nurse practitioners would make more than PA.

But remember that for certain fields, being a PA is more desirable (dermatology, plastic surgery etc... At least in my state). Of course for primary care NP is probably better though
Also, becoming a NP is a little more annoying as you have to first do two years of nursing then a masters. PA is just prerequisites and 2 years of a masters program. so for example if someone who already has a BA in biology (meaning he/she already has most prerequisites) its much easier to go the PA route because its just two more years.

So it really just depends.
Also just to note: If you are working as a nurse at a hospital and they like you they might pay for you to do the masters program to become an NP! So what i'm saying is that there is a lot of room for advancement in the nursing field which is really great

As long as you have a Dr. signing off and coming in once in a while its entirely possible for a PA to have his/her own practice. In fact most people in Boro Park have never seen a real doctor in their lives, they just go to PA's

I know at least two PA's who have their own practice and have docs come in periodically
Also, i know a derm PA  who works with a doctor but takes all his own patients and basically completely on his own (has his own schedule etc)

What about an MDS Coordinator? You have to be an RN but they make 75-100k plus.

Is that in NJ? My MDS coordinators are making way more than that
