Had this in the past and my TA booked a new booking on the same flights and added the infant (and then canceled the adult booking) and linked the infant to my res. and had no issues at the airport.

Did anyone recently actually book an infant on a star alliance award using asiana miles for 10% miles?

This is the language on the website for a star alliance ticket:
"The same miles as are redeemed for adults will be redeemed for an infant (under 24 months of age on the departure date) or a child. An infant not occupying a seat may travel with an infant ticket (10% of the regular fare for an adult)."
Sounds like 10% of cash ticket.

This is the language for flights on asiana metal:
"10% of miles redeemed for adults are redeemed for an infant under 2."
This is obviously 10% miles.

I called and get different answers from each rep, of course, so I wanted to see if anyone actually did it.

You're gonna have to pay 10% of full fare. Just buy the infant a ticket.

The special request is useless, if you actually need to pay. All it does is give them the child's info. You need the child to actually be ticketed if it's a paid ticket. It's all dependent on the answer to your first question.

I booked an award ticket on BA from NYC to TLV and on UA for the return. I felt that I cannot take the risk of having to hold a 13 month old on my lap for those flights, so I booked a ticket for the infant too (100% of the adult miles, slightly less taxes). Was this the right move? Or could I have gotten a guaranteed seat for the infant by adding the infant after booking at 10%?

Also, I found out that BA has a bassinet row on both legs of the flight that would have been assigned to me had I not booked the infant ticket. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to deal with the obstinate BA reps who refuse to assign it to me? My impeccable yeshiva logic that since they would have given me the row had I paid less, a fortiori they should give it to me if I paid extra, did not help one bit

if i have an international AA award ticket and booked/paid for an infant in arms. If i upgrade the award to business with more miles, would i have to pay more for the infant ticket (10% of business is alot more) or once i have the infant ticket it stays with me?

That's a good question. I'm curious myself. What does it say when you pull up the e-ticket number?
