You can do JFK-LHR on AA and LHR-TLV on El Al using AA miles.
In fact you'll even save miles by routing that way (40K one way) off-peak rather than fly JFK-TLV nonstop (45K one way)

I learnt something new and from Dan as well! Good to know and its much better then DL who made you use all ElAl, I believe DL does that with their Partners that arent ST Members an all or nothing deal, could be they would allow a DL flight in order to connect. I know cause DL was able to get me 1 time to TLV with ElAl but nothing back , yet had something back on AF but said they arent allowed to mix ElAl with any other Carrier.

But it wont help anyone since BA miles cant be used on AA TATL. Guess they could see if they can go AA for 40k to LHR and then another tkt on BA for 20k and pay whatever in BA fees. Total of 60k  40k + 20k + BAs fees

I was told by a BA Executive Club agent that you can not use any of the partners for transatlantic travel (not just AA).  Exclusively on BA (to LHR) if you want to get to Europe. Any chance she was wrong (and you can go Iberia, Finnair, AerLingus,Malev)

She's wrong.  The exclusion only applies to AA.
Similarly you can't fly on BA to/from the US/Canada and the UK when using AA miles.

So a JFK-MAD-TLV should be doable on Iberia. Any idea about the taxes/fees?

My last post above this 1 I cant Edit (modify)it any longer hence a new post

please keep in mind that by doing an AA to/from LHR and BA to/from TLV 2 different cash outs 1 from each program, that you will be hit for an extra $128 for the AA tkt. Basically paying a departure tax for the UK twice. 1 for each tkt, no way out of that since the tkts have nothing to do with each other , so total should be $128 for AA & $357 for BA or $485 in total less then what BA would charge if you did it all on BA with BA miles which was $557 go figure

for a paid coach tkt its running appx $367, so Id say a free tkt if theres full fuel surcharge should be alittle less due to the taxes. While BA shows up as $593 on a paid coach and its $557 on afree coach tkt

The question is whether BA collects the fuel surcharge when using BA miles to fly on Iberia.

I don't know the answer, but if someone has the requisite BA miles they could find out by doing a partner award search on BA.com.

Unsure if ppl will find it worthwhile, but I've gotten quotes for 1.3 to 1.5 cents per mile for these. So if the fees are too high, or you have no use, that might be another idea, although you're not maximizing their value.

I wouldnt mind getting .015 cents per mile that means $1500 which should get me 5 trancons = 25k in EQMs & 50k in RDMs = 2 free trancons or 1 coach to Euorpe w/o the fuel surcharge. Id say thast a very nice return

Can somebody please help me-- I've looked all over BA site and cant for the life of me figure this out.

How many miles and what kind of booking fees would I be looking at for USA to South america (Brazil, chile, argentina)? LANChile charges $50 booking fee if I use LANpass, is it the same if I use BA? Where do I see the award chart and booking fees for using partner airlines? I can find the award mileage, but what about booking fees?

I really have tried to figure this out myself, thanks guys.

You'll have to call them to find out fuel surcharges and taxes on non-BA flights.

Yes and No , if Status is your Game then I wouldnt want to use them on any type of Transcon where 5k in EQMs can be earned.

Theyd be great for Miami since little EQMs are earned and the cents per EQM is high (meaning say NY-LA is $275 and you earn 5k while Miami is $175 and you earn only 2200 = Florida usually comes in @ appx .08 per EQM while LA will be appx .05-.06).

now for a non status person they look to save as much $$ as possible so theyd use Miles for LA and pay for Miami, the exact opposite of what Id do. Not that I would blow 25k to get to Miami its the principle involved and how 1 views their Miles &/or Pts

DAN:

why isn't it worth signing up - and eventually SELL the miles?
isn't it worth the effort?

call them up and ask em if they can issue you the BA crad that you applied for by taking some of the Charge Limit from the CO CC and put it on the BA CC.

Net result no increase in any Credit limits, dont know if it will work a couple of yrs ago it did but todays mkt isnt yesterdays, nothing to lose by calling and asking
