After doing a lot of research a few month back it seems Hyatt is the clear winner there.

We had a pretty nice experience at the Westin although it is mainly because we got a nice upgrade as a plat.
The Hyatt was definitely a more upscale property than the Westin and IIRC it was probably the nicest in the area.

So if you are looking to save then the Westin is a pretty decent option but you can do a lot better at the Hyatt.

Although the Hyatt is definitely nicer I would stay at the Westin if I can get it for Cash and points!!! Much better value!

Most people consider the Radisson Aruba to be the nicest and most upscale property in Aruba. Although the Hyatt is a close second.

You cannot use the suite upgrade when using points for your stay, only for paid stays.

Did hyatt officially apply the certificate or did you just get an upgrade through the hotel?

Call the hotel direct or get a diamond agent to call the hotel and ask.

I just sent an email asking to be upgraded and he said we can apply your suite upgrade. Did the same in Paris and London but no dice. I guess it depends on the hotel/staff person who is responding to you

Westin Aruba is going up from Category 4 to category 5 as of March 1st. It is a good deal as a Category 4 so anyone has any plans on visiting Aruba book it this month.
