If you're referring to Dr Hertz in Flatbush, I used him recently for a tooth extraction (not wisdom tooth, but a back tooth). All went very smooth. Just be prepared for a long wait time.
I guess he got really popular the last few years, I was there a couple of years back, and only waited around 20-30 minutes.

Wisdom teeth extraction is a scam. If it becomes an issue, then you'll do it.

depends on what you would call an issue. I was very impressed when during my (long) wait time I overheard Dr. Hertz recommend some people not to extract them yet. But he did recommend that I should, and I believe that they were moving the rest of my teeth because they weren't growing in straight....

lol but it is true. A dentist is based solely on trust and some dentists take advantage of that.
I found out another piece tonight. I have delta dental. Want to know what they pay the dentist for a checkup? 43 dollars. How is the poor guy supposed to Mahe any money unless he finds something that needs "fixing"?
