Best card for ticket purchases (sports and concerts)
« on: February 01, 2012, 11:43:18 PM »
Anyone ever come across a card that offers good rewards for purchasing tickets to sporting events and concerts?
I spend a significant amount a month (hence the name) and would really like to maximize the rewards.

IIRC the jetblue amex card offers bonus points for tickets but I'm not sure how much jetblue points are worth to you

If you travel domestically frequently and purchase a lot of sports tickets a year, (as your name and question indicate) then the Jet blue amex card would make sense IMO

I dont do that much traveling. Ideally would want to sell the points.
I currently have the AMEX Gold, Citi AA, and SPG, but would gladly aplly for something that would get me more bang for my buck.

Discover has 5% cb on movie tickets for 2012.
Not sure where you purchase your tickets,  but if they also sell movie tickets it will be in that category and it will qualify.

So the quarterly 5% cb on movie tickets isn't going to work for you? The place you buy from doesn't also sell movie tickets?

Anybody know if ticketmaster is categorized as "movies" as far as the quarterly promo?

That's borderline criminal.

Why is that?  The primary isn't allowed to earn rewards for purchases made on an AU's card?

Its cashback just paid the bill with it.
I think Dan was referring to the lack of value on the rewards...

I don't get it. What's wrong with that? Isn't that what cb is meant for?
Its cash, its meant to redeem the way you want.
