I will rent a car in Israel and have the

Barclays AA Aviator World Elite MasterCard
or Amex business Platinum.
Both claim to cover insurance and no forex fees...
Which one I will have the best coverage?

Any advantage one over the other in Israel?
Renting through Europcar.

Thank you.

Been changing my cc for years, no problem.
This happpened to me a few weeks ago at Hertz.
Now we have a new issue to worry about, the Isralis managed to make up a new problem.. with new excuses...
Feel really bad for you if this is what worries you.

It is true (not sure about the reasoning, but you need to buy third party liability insurance at any car rental).

I know this quote is from 2014..
Is this still accurate?

I've never rented in Israel, and will be spending close to two weeks there over this Chanukah..
Anyone can give me a crash-course about insurance and other things i should know about before picking a rental?

Thanks!

Simple. Just call an agent and get an all inclusive quote. Your CC insurance will cover collision but you will need to buy mandatory liability from the company.

Just use a decent agent that'll get you a free additional driver, and don't play guessing games that'll cause an insurance headache.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Most rental agencies will allow a spouse as an additional driver for free, however they must be added to the contract. As I said, read the contract. Says clearly there that they must be added to the contract.

I clearly remember being told otherwise.

A quick Google seems to validate it.

Interesting, I remember reading that, yes, they can drive, but they must be added specifically. What does the next clause say? Anything about that?

Usually these things are worked out before with your agent. That is why that agents in Israel and America they dont.
It seems to be that if working with a good agent you should verify with them since they should be able to add on the additional driver before you even go in to get the car.

So do I need to get a separate insurance aside from what my CSP will cover for a rental in Israel? I heard that I need some kind of 3rd party insurance or something like that. Any insights?

they only charge for insurance+tax (about $12)
best would be to go through an agent. I highly recommend Moshe Lieberman if going through Avis.

yes. Do yourself a favor and go through an agent.
a friend of mine went through Priceline original quote was 400 when it came to paying they charged 800.
