Amex Extended Warranty

Question: I spoke with an amex agent on the phone today and she said that in order to file a claim and be covered under the extended warranty program, the credit card that you bought the product with has to be alive. My question is for those of you who churn cards or cancel your starwood amex before the annual fee is due (and get new cards), do you know if your previous purchases on the canceled cards are still under the extended warranties?

This might be a stupid question but can anyone please confirm if the amex extended warranty protection (extra year) applies to the SPG business card as well? (I know it is for sure on the consumer card...)

I just found the info on the AMEX website, they both add additional year to the Warranty.

By mentioning Starwood and Premier Rewards Gold are you saying that it's just those cards and not any other cards from AMEX?

What about AMEX Blue? it offers all the above benefits, but is it equal to the Starwood and Premier Rewards Gold etc.?

He's saying those cards because for everyday spending he recommends those cards as they offer great reward value, you get 1.25 miles per dollar spent on over 20 airlines.

And what about the Sapphire preferred why is that not mentioned? Because its not as easy as Amex?

Probably because Amex's extended warranty is a top-notch hassle-free service, we're going to have to wait and see about Chase's extended warranty...

yes, but blue has no fee and spg does so it's likely that i might eventually cancel the spg and thereby lose the benefit!

but back to my original q are the benefits the same or not? or do you not know?

according to amex  the extended warranty is only valid if you have the original purchasing card acct open
  that being the case by churning your giving up all the benefits of extended warranty even if you have other amex accts open
 a)is it worth the points and annual fee to lose the warranty
 b)has anyone had any experience with amex trying to get service under the extened warranty after the original card was closed?

a little off topic but i bought a laptop on a spg card and have had endless problems with it and have sent it in to the manufacturer a couple of times already and they haven't managed to fix the problems, right now i am waiting for the year to be over so i can go straight to amex and claim from them, what will they do? will they make me send them the laptop and then refund me? or will they pay for a repair at a 3rd party repair company? or any other options they might do?

did u actually try getting an item  fixed  on a product purchased with card A after having  closed card A? or are u just repeating what someone on DDF may have been lucky ??
 as right now i have a laptop giving me issues on its way bk to dell but as i see someone else posted if they dont fix and need to come onto amex warranty dont want to be left out to dry as the lap top was bet 600-700

Chances are they will just send you a check for the full value of the computer
