As always, Robert P. George gives us something to consider and a strong reason not to simply roll over on the transgender discussion:

Some people may suppose that the assault on parental rights reported here takes to its logical conclusion the belief that there are "women" trapped in men's bodies and vice versa, and that "gender reassignment surgery" is "medical care" and indeed "essential" medical care. But this is far from the ultimate end to which the logic of "transgenderism" takes us when it comes to the destruction of parental rights and duties. It is only the beginning. The time will come--and it is not far off--when young children whom teachers or case workers report are "transgendered" will be taken away from parents who refuse to "acknowledge" that "fact" and submit their children to "essential" medical care, including puberty blocking drugs to prepare them to "transition." It is in the logic of the thing. If you give it a moment's thought, you will SEE that it is in the logic of the thing. After all, children can and are taken from their parents for abuse and neglect. On the logic of transgenderism, "misgendering" a person is abuse. Certainly, denying them necessary medical care is neglect. Treating a boy who is actually a "transgender girl" as a boy, is psychologically damaging to the child---or so the sex lib lobby insists. Parents and parents-to-be, you've got a stake in this---a huge stake. You could in short order be caught up in a nightmare. Lots of kids experience dysphorias and confusions about sexuality at some point in the process of growing up. Unless they are locked into those dysphorias and confusions, the vast majority grow out of them. Others can be helped in dealing with them---unless helping them is made illegal (which is already happening in some states). I hope---I pray---that we can get off this ideologically powered train before it is too late. I do not want yet again to find myself saying:

I told you so.

I think that the reaction on the right would be similar to the current reaction on the left in feeling it was wrong and crossed the line. I disagree with those on the right saying now that there should be retaliation and I don't think the right we be calling for that had it been BO or HRC. The retaliatory aspect is from the left's playbook. I think the right is wrongly reveling in reversing the roles but losing their argument in the process.
