That depends on the school and the parents.
Would the parents have to focus on the three R's more at home?

And on the public school.

I'm betting crown heights chabad kids compare favorably with crown heights public schools.

Don't go comparing Boro park chadsidim to Bronx science

That brings up another question.  :)
I have seen this many times as in this article the Jewish kids are behind their public school counter parts in basic education. Would that be accurate?
Generally not. However, that speaks more about the public schools than the Jewish schools. (In this context, Jewish refers ultra Orthodox, as more modern Orthodox schools are certainly not behind.)
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

That's inaccurate, besides for some schools that don't have secular studies. I got a 1420 on my SAT and most pf my classmates scored well above the median score.

The length of the school day is much longer in Jewish school than public schools. In elementary school I finished at 3:30 or 4:30 from 4th grade. From 1st grade and on we had school 6 days a week. In high school classes finished at 9.

The reason I ask because many non-Catholics attend Catholic schools because of the discipline and education standards. Was wondering if that was the same with Jewish schools. I am guessing no because of the amount of time spent on religion each school day?

There are some schools geared toward outreach which do that to attract irreligious Jewish students.

Somebody should have told him about CLE.

As I was reading the article, I was thinking that rather than going to Secular school, he should have turned to more Orthodox/Chareidi/Chassic school (and shul), and then I reached the following paragraph:

Quote
Summer camp? Chabad. In fact, we have been getting more involved with Chabad. At least they don’t make Judaism all about the money. Sure, they also need community support to exist, but in return they provide full-service Judaism at a reasonable price. That in my opinion, will effectively position Chabad as the ‘last man standing’ of US Jewish Orthodoxy, as the far right Jewish communities become increasingly impoverished due to the failure to educate their kids for the workforce, and as the Modern Orthodox numbers continue to dwindle under lack of commitment, unbearable costs and attrition in the college years and beyond.

Though not very common, I think some Chabad centers do offer a full day school program, rather than just a Hebrew school to supplement general education with Jewish education. Maybe it's time to establish more of those also in NYC area.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

There's one right near me http://www.shaloh.org/

I'm not sure it's that cheap though. If it was, I'd probably send there.

As I said, there are a few. One recently opened in Brooklyn Heights (and for some odd reason advertised also in Crown Heights).

There's also a school in Crown Heights that many would consider of that type.

As I said, there are a few out there, but it's a tiny percentage of the overall reach of Chabad Lubavitch in the US.

There are quite a few people in the Lubavitch community who joined the community because in the 1950s and 1960s United Lubavitcher Yeshiva was the only Jewish school which would accept every Jewish child, regardless of ability to pay tuition. There are also many that attended that didn't join the community, but appreciate the fact that their parents were able to give them a Jewish education thanks to the policies and hard work the fundraisers did. Same can be said about the origins of Camp Gan Yisroel.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Federal fairness examiners also worry about “customized” scoring models that can include variables excluded from credit-bureau records, such as education. It isn’t entirely forbidden, but regulators worry those variables could correlate with factors like race, ethnicity and sex. Lenders often resort to using a “generic” bureau score, popularly called a FICO score, to mitigate regulatory risk.
