-Here is a handy planner for the public transport system.

-DD's Kosher Sandwiches can be bought in most major airports and stations and at some supermarkets around London.  Check here for a list of locations.

From DDF, I would say to skip the London Eye. See the touristy things that kopite1 suggested including Tower of London if you have time. London Dungeon was also fun. If you're there early enough in the morning for Changing of the Guard, I believe this is the link for Matt who provides a great tour, per DDFers. https://funlondontours.com/changing-guard-walking-tour

Now, if you're a Harry Potter fan... ignore all the above and book the tour and let that be the only thing you do on your 1 day.
Tower of London
Is the number 1 entertaining thing in London with history.

If I am in London for one day I want to make it a full day, any suggestions on the best thing( s) or thing to do.

Is it worth to do the London Eye only, is the River Cruise worth it etc...
1 day in London
I would suggest:

1. Early morning Tower of London
2. Then photo shoot at tower bridge
You could walk to it and back if you want to spend another 40mins total there
We just took photos from further out
3. Then river cruise past London eye, shard and Shakespeare's globe
4. to Big Ben and house of parliament
5. then from there I would do a Uber to Buckingham Palace
Use a app like sygic to spot places on the way and know what your looking at

6. Then maybe I would suggest some shopping:

Choice of oxford St..
Regent St.
Selfridges
Or Harrods

7. And then go eat at Rubins.

Nice day in London.

Check my TR on those things and pics.

I would skip Harry Potter which is fiction and not London
I would skip Matt's Tour because it's too time consuming for a 1 day trip.

That depends on quality vs. quantity. And the HP comment is... oh forget it.

Harry Potter while Entertaining I wouldn't say that's London

And if your going for a day to London wouldn't you want to get a over view of the major places that are London
Like Big Ben, Tower of London, Tower bridge, London eye, Buckingham Palace , Selfridge's or Harrods

I listed the highlights of London, and then clarified that if you're a big Potter fan, skip all that and go on the tour. Until you're a huge Potter fan and you go on that tour, you won't understand why it's worth skipping the rest of London for that.

Some people love the dungeons. Some find them gory and distasteful and would stay away from it.

@davidmal that's a wonderful itinerary.
I'm a HP fan, I grew up with it. But I would never consider spending my one day in London there. Although I've never seen the movies, so that might be it

The HP tour is at the Warner Bros studios near Watford. It's a long way from Central London and I don't think you'd want to spend an entire day getting there (no trains nearby).

You take an hour bus ride to HP.

I'll say this one last time, as this is just another reminder of why I've dialed back the forums: for someone trying to tour London in one day, you should hit the main sights as I myself listed. However, if are the type of person who LOVES HP and you're only somewhat interested in London sights, then as a second option (which is only how I listed it originally), you could consider doing HP instead of the tourist sights since it is that amazing for the right person.

Thanks for the clear advice. Really down to the point, will probably follow it. (I actually read your trip report before!)
I was feeling bad and wanted to do Matt's Tour but thanks for advising against it,  at least this time. Your logic makes sense.
Is it worth to do the boat in not good weather also?
Big Ben and house of parliament are on the boat tour?
By Buckingham Palace you mean to actually go inside or just to see it?

Boat has indoor as well

And it's a great change of pace from taking a taxi

It will take you from Tower of London/tower bridge to Big Ben and House of Parliament
If you want you could also try to squeeze in Churchill's war room then buckingham palace Which is only outdoor

Summer they allow visiting.

If you want you could go around the corner to the garden or the royal mews to see carriages as well before your off to shopping.

So here is what I am thinking and I need some suggestions:

Arrive - Tues Night
Wed - Matt's Changing of Guards Tour - really into changing of the guards.

Walk to Big Ben  area - Pictures
London Boat Cruise to Tower Bridge
Then Looking for a free thing to do around the area. Should we take a trip to Harrods?

I am leaving on Thursday Aftn. Looking for a relatively cheaper thing to do on Thursday Morning. Any ideas?

I am looking for something relatively on cheap end ( do they know what cheap means in London :)).
Any recomendations on some nice walking tours or  activities under 20 Pounds that I can fit in Thursday morning when I have an afternoon flight out?
