-If you plan on using public transportation, get an Oyster card. They are much cheaper and easier to use than conventional travel cards, and never expire. They can be bought in many stores in London, or online. These days one can use contactless credit cards instead of Oyster.(Check here to see if your foreign contactless card will work.)

-Here is a handy planner for the public transport system.

-DD's Kosher Sandwiches can be bought in most major airports and stations and at some supermarkets around London.  Check here for a list of locations.

-Kosher in the West End/City -
Selfridges food hall has a variety of kosher groceries and prepackaged ready food by 1701.
Hermolis  also have a deli counter there.  The range includes schnitzels, spring rolls, kebabs, breaded lamb chops, chicken wings, fish products and salads. Traditional Shabbat dishes will be on sale on Thursdays and Fridays. Supervision is provided by the Kashrut Division London Beth Din
In the City Munch'n'Crunch have a stand in Hatton Garden with kosher meals, sandwiches, sushi and coffee. It is located at 32 Hatton Garden, on the lower-ground floor of Jewellery Emporium. There is also Mincha there at 1:30.

-Kosher food at non-kosher hotels, restaurants etc. can be ordered from the following kosher caterers in London. They provide double-wrapped meals to any location and could also match the menu of your location.

Zmanim - MyZmanim London

Minyanim - There are many shuls all over London, however there are a couple of places that have more constant Minyanim throughout the day.

Hagers (Beth Yisochor Dov Beth Hamedrash)
R' Chuna's (Beth Shmuel Synagogue)

Stamford Hill

Biala Shul (47 Moundfield Rd, London N16 6DT, UK)
Here is a list of addresses and zmanim for the above, and other places.

-Minyan in the West End could be found at the Marble Arch Synagogue. Shacharis during the week is followed by breakfast, and a kiddush on Shabbos.

-Most food products in general stores do not have a hechsher on them. This does not necessarily mean they are not kosher. For example, Coca-Cola does not have a hechsher, but it is kosher. Here is an online kosher product search that could help. Link to Android app.

I once stayed in the Croft Court Hotel in Golders Green (referenced in the above link) - it was "quaint" to be polite, but clean - and very good location as far as kosher & davening go.

Agree- just got back from London and I stayed at the Croft Court Hotel (Thanks to KC1544).  It was very clean, breakfast was excellent, and the location just off Golders Green Rd was excellent (right near restaurants and shuls/shteibels) .  A 20 minute tube ride to central London- would definitely stay there again

Not as convient as Croft Court, Theres a Holiday In Express on Finchley Rd and the M4. Its a 15-20 min walk to where the M4 goes  from Golders Green into Hendon. So its a bus ride to /from the Tube, but if you have or can get Priority Club pts you can get it for free on pts

What do you mean not convenient...you can hop on a bus from outside the door into central london and there's also a shul accross the road. only downside is it isn't kosher.

Meant if a person simply wanted to walk out and grab something to eat.

With The CC its a couple mins walk to the restaurants in Golders Green, while with The HIE its a long walk or a person has t jump on a bus/es

not all stations have escalators or elevators = Think Stairs in alot but not all cases

DT there are 2 resturants Reubens off Oxford St and Bevis and Marks in the shul on the other side of town. There are a couple of places (Dept stores) on Oxford that sells kosher sandwiches in their food mkt but once I looked at them I passed  on the sandwiches that is.

The best place for food is Golders Green or Hendon which is far from DT

I dont see many people with strollers walking around London at times it can be like Times Sq NYE.

My suggestion is untill your kids get old enough where they can walk on their own go somewhere else thats kids friendly and where you can drive to and park nearby

are there any not so expensive, more casual places to grab lunch at, such as pizza or something?   also, are there any fancy places with really nice food?

Golders Green Rd has pizza and fast fleshig joints, thou the pizza is far from even what youd get in the US even out of town

a new milchig sort of fancy place recently opened on GGR. I think Hendon has more full service places. But Fancy and London dont go together. DT there used to be 613 neverw as teher and dont think they are still open

I liked isola bella, which had a huge selection of sandwiches, then there is supposed to be a place calles Solys (no idea how to spell it) and there you need to be upstairs, so much to stories I was told.
