Under which ownership?

Last I heard was that it was being bought by someone who might have a challenge getting Kashrus certification, and was told that he must have a bone fide partner that could get certification.

This:

is literally all I heard.
I don't know any details at all.

It's been another 3 weeks, plus there are 3,000 international Rabbis in town one block away. Any Kosher updates?

That would be this week. I guess check with the OU.

I doubt any of 3,000 international Rabbis would be interested in a sit down at Basil during this time regardless of what certification they have.

exactly. They cannot do it this time, however at least 1,000 of these rabbis would have been able to do so had Basil been properly certified-Kosher.

During one of my recent visits to Basil this year, Rabbi Berel Lazar, Chief Rabbi of Russia/FSU was eating there with several friends, community members, and colleagues. They cannot do that now until changes are made.

My point was, that even if there would not be any kashrus certification issue, I doubt any of the Shluchim would go there during the kinus, except if there was a private event in a private room.

About time.

(It would have been great if they had finalized this Kosher certification last month). Of all the 24 hours to be closed, they are missing out on the ability to serve breakfast/brunch a portion of the 4,000+ visiting rabbis and international supporters and guests as they leave NY to go to the airport tomorrow. ....Timing....

It's a step in the wrong direction to get an eatery in Crown Heights certified by the OU, even if the main audience isn't the local audience. And even if the mashgiach is a well known member of the community (who happens to be related to one of the owners).

How many establishments in Boro Park, Williamsburg, or Lakewood are certified by the OU?
