I helped a friend book a "superior suite" for 3 adults with breakfast at the Isrotel Royal Beach Eilat through Kaligo. The price was suspiciously low, far lower than any other site. To make a long story short, he got to the hotel and they had no reservation on him. It turns out Kaligo made a mistake when listing it on the site and listed it as Royal Beach whereas it was supposed to be for the Royal Garden.
Ultimately they did admit them to Royal Beach, but my friend is still upset because he was expecting a suite, but was only given a "Royal Room" (2 categories above standard room, but not given lounge access). The hotel did offer free use of the spa and access to the VIP dining room for breakfast.
Kaligo is offering $200 compensation (original booking cost $1100). We tried and tried to get any of the following to no avail: upgrade to suite as per the booking, free dinner, free use of the lounge -- but the hotel would not budge. $200 seems a bit low considering the time spent sorting it out (during which my friend was without a room after having driven 4 hours to Eilat) and the horrible experience all around. Anyone have experience with compensation from Kaligo?
