In order to book an award ticket for wife, kid and myself, I need to add them to the family plan first, right?

Or just make your wife her own KE account and book her seperately.

There's always a possibility of having issues during IRROPS that way. I recommend trying to be on the same PNR whenever easily doable.

Although IMHO Korean requirements don't classify as "easily doable" due to the paperwork required.

IINM the documentation needed is:
A) Marriage certificate to prove you're married.
B) Birth certificate to prove its your kid.
C) Passports or drivers license for everybody to confirm names and date of birth.
D) Create individual accounts for each passenger.
E) Fill out a form with the account info for everybody (and some other basic information) requesting to link the accounts for redemption (and share miles if necessary).

The good thing is, you can put KE awards on hold while dealing with all that stuff.

Sure, the process is annoying but it's not like those documents are hard to get a hold of...

What does KE charge for a lap child? Looked around online and couldn't get a straight answer. I remember someone saying here (on a different thread) that KE's policy is "favorable" compared to other airlines, but not sure what that means. Flight would be on KE metal.

Only on KE metal.

That's what OP asked about -

Want to fly JFK-ICN-CNX and I looked on Kayak.com and I see that the route exists, but when I search for award travel on KE's website, nothing comes up. Do I need to call this booking in so that they can piece it together manually?

I just checked KE's website and KE definitely pulls up that route as an award. On many days KE doesn't fly ICN-CNX, so make sure there is a flight to CNX on the day AFTER your flight departs from JFK.

If you want to book the two flights several days apart, to take advantage of KE's free stopover on a one way, I'm pretty sure you'd have to call.

Ok. That may be why it wasn't showing up. Either way, was planning on taking the free stopover to stay in ICN for a day or two so I'll call it in. Thanks! Any idea what the taxes/YQ is on that route?
