A set dollar amount towards purchasing tickets at retail cost. I think its $0.01. That means the points are worth less than that, because they're only good for that,

They also transfer into Hilton at a 1:2 rate, so if you value your Hilton points at a higher rate than .5 cpm then you have that going for you.

QF are great. They can be used to purchase flights at a set rate according to distance, so it's very hard to place a monetary value on them, unless you want to sell them.
Hilton is worth way less than SPG. Hilton sells them for 1 cent, so the value is lower. BA is worth more than virigin, especially if you need to fly short haul AA.

They're probably (IMHO) worth a bit less than other miles due to YQ and lack of Alliance.

You're talking about Virgin America, OP is asking about Virgin Atlantic.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but here's how I'd rank them (from most to least valuable):

SPG
United
Virgin Atlantic
BA
Qantas
Hilton

in a certain sense virgin atlantic miles are worth a lot i will list a few
1 they almost always have days available from ny to london
2 if one uses it for upper class it is worth alot because round trip upper class ny lon would be between $4000 - $8000 and with va miles 90,000 plus 800 tax and the upper class service and the club houses offered in heathrow and now in jfk is un comparable

1. If the availability is the same for partners (I suspect it is) then the miles aren't worth any more than partner miles.
2. See response 1. Additionally, the same can be said for other redemptions.

It isn't the same.
But consider that ANA charges 63,000 NYC-LHR while Virgin is still 90,000.
Before ANA began charging fuel surcharges, it was probably one of the biggest discrepancies between partners.

Hilton points can be good for a Waldorf that is opening in Jerusalem at a great location

Nice suggestion.

But not necessarily will 2 Hilton points at the Waldorf be worth as much as 1 VS mile in upper class. Gotta calculate what works best for each person.

I have a choice either
1000 Virgin Atlantic miles
700 Qantas

Are Virgin transferable to BA 1;1

If you're talking about miles from 1 flight (or a roundtrip, whatever), unless you plan on flying often, none of those options are going to be worth anything.

Just got an email from Virgin's Flying Club:

Quote
we’re excited to announce that you can now use your Flying Club miles for domestic travel on Virgin America!

That means the Virgin travel experience you love expands to travel in the US to over 18 destination....

For example, A round-trip on Virgin America from New York to Los Angeles starts at just 25,000 miles (taxes and fees starting from $5.00).......
