So you didn't eat meat Shabbos day or you had your own stuff in a fridge in your room?
There's no fridge in the room as the one supplied is an electric mini bar.

You can most definitely request one.

Even with just the minibar fridge we fit a lot of stuff in there.  :P

Anyone have experience with a points room booked under a non-status account, but the 2nd guest (me) is gold - would they give me gold benefits here?

I know there's been one DP on this, wanted to add another. I booked the dates I wanted in the standard room with cash while waiting for my points and certs to post. By the time they posted standard rooms were no longer available, but I was able to cancel my existing reservation and immediately rebook the now-available standard room with the cert. The CS rep did warn me that I was taking a risk, as it could be grabbed by someone else while we completed the process, but bH it went smoothly

How far in advance have people emailed for upgrades? Wait for them to email me ten days before my arrival, or email them proactively a few weeks out?

It is risky I tried it and the rooms weren't available

Then I'm even more relieved that it worked. If they were deliberately blocking inventory I'm sure it wouldn't work, and there's always a chance that someone else grabs the availability as soon as you cancel before rebooking

99% of the time this is  it what happens. Silly phone rep. Thought I agree that inventory may not come back.

Is it ridiculous to email a month in advance?

That's nonsense.

The likelihood someone is booking a points room and for the nights you need at the exact time as you refunding and rebooking is very, very small.

wouldn't a cash booking also in theory steal the inventory. altough I agree the likelihood is minuscule.

OMG my new swift key messed me up...

I was typing that 99% of the time this is NOT what happens. You should've chap that from the second half of my post where  I said silly phone rep for saying that it may happen and it's risky. And I added that though (not thought)  inventory may not come back.  Oh well.

this seems to work for here but didn't work for me in the Conrad koh samui. I cancelled and it didn't go back into inventory.
