Looks like a good plan, but seriously consider not going to Bourbon Street especially Saturday night. Visit any other street in the FQ and you'll be fine. All you'll find on Bourbon Street is a whole bunch of bars, a lot of rowdy and drunk people, and a lot of vomit and urine all over the place. The place smells like a bad hangover. The river wall and Royal street are much better bets. It's not like they even have kosher food there.
Totally agree.

Unless you are teens or college age kids looking for a good time, I personally would not be comfortable on bourbon street with my wife on a Saturday night. Lots of street con artists there as well.

If they tell you there can tell you where you gots your shoes just walk away, it's an old con, they then say you gots them on this street right now and tell you you owe them $20...

Casablanca is definitely not something spectacular, so if you are ok with waffles and cold food your plan looks good.

Eta: you can checkout bourbon street during the day time and get lost in the French quarter and watch street performers there etc. Just I wouldn't suggest it at night.

thx, royal street looks nice, but i feel like we have to see bourbon street once we are there, even for a minute or two. hard to imagine it being so nasty though i take your word for it.

Fun fact: most movies that show"bourbon street"are really showing other streets in the FQ. Bourbon is just gross. Hey a picture of the sign and leave. Lots of cute shops in the FQ. Dw had a fun time trying on hats.

If you can, get to the WWII museum

Can anyone recommend a swap tour. The main two I've seen are Cajun Pride Swamp Tours and Ultimate Swamp Adventures. Has anyone used either of these or have a recommendation for a different one?

Also should I do a combo tour with a plantation?

I will be going on a business trip there next week for 3 days.
Thinking of renting a car since we would be driving to and from the airport, conference center, and then to eat every day.
Is it worth renting a car, and if yes where can i get the best price?

TIA

The waffle place is great, and if u have the time, best to take the 12 St Charles streetcar from Canal street (across from CVS https://goo.gl/maps/nmTCQn5eQ2k, or if u are at riverside go up to st charles and poydras) which stops 3 minutes from the waffles place on hillary st. its about a 45 minute scenic ride, really interesting houses etc and a nice chill if you have the time. the waffles place is really a great spot, and owner is a Lamed Vav Tzaddik i think. but dont get the brittle that stuff tastes weird.
Really dont need a car (and parking is expensive), plentiful ubers and lyfts pretty cheap. are you staying by the Hilton in the Riverside conference center? really not a terrible walk to the 24 hour cafe du monde off St Ann that has a local rabbi's hechsher (beignets are great for breakfast).

Staying at the W in the French quarter.
Wish i had time to do all the scenic stuff but gonna be doing business during the day so guess sightseeing will have to be done at night  :)
Do you think Uber is that much cheaper than a car even with all the traveling that I'll be doing?

Yes, especially in the FQ. Parking is very hard and it's all walkable, but it depends how far from the FQ you're going every day.

The convention center is about 10 minutes away from the hotel, but i will be going to Chabad and to eat a few times a day so that is a bit of a trip.
