i signed up online with http://www.spikko.com/index_en.htm
they give you an israeli number and u have a limited amount of minutes to call israel (or to anywhere i think).
i dont know full details, but every time someone calls you on that number it adds minutes to your "bank of minutes"

for Iphone/touch - you can download an SIP app - i personally use SoftPhone - (costs money - free from instaullous)
and u set up ur spikko account there and it works perfectly!
you can also download a virtual phone to your computer and make calls like that and recieve calls as well. you can send and receive SMS from it as well. - check http://pc.spikko.com/eng/ for a bit more.

Please post any more details or experiences youve had with Spikko.

It works with the obi!!!
this means that you can have a US and israel number anywhere in the world!
and they both are (sorta) Free!

So i decided this needs its own post.

Obi supports 2 outgoing services.

I have GV as my first one. awesome thanks Dan!

Saw on dansdeals a service that does a similar thing to gv but in israel- called spikko,

Added that as the 2nd service.

Now on my OBI here in israel i have both a US and Israel number with both of them (sorta) free! Bye bye bezeq. ( the spikko gets free min based on your incoming calls, the more incoming calls the more free outgoing, or you can choose to pay- cheaper than bezek)

But here the problem,
To make an outgoing call through the second provider (Israel line) you need to push **2 then the number.
Now that's annoying to have to input a code before each call.

So i posted on the obihai forums my dilemma and my idea to fix it, the obi forum people quickly wrote up a line of code that can be added to the obi making any outgoing call starting with the digit 0 automatically go to the **2 service provider(spikko).
Because all israel phone numbers start with "0" and no US/Canada numbers start with 0 - it should work wonders!

i am not home to try it now but either way i think this is really cool!

Anyone else do this?

cant figure out now how to call out on my israeli line only can receive phonecalls... any ideas?

or pm for the programming code to make it automatic that you dont neeed to put in the code.

If i'm not mistaken telcos in israel charge for incoming calls. that would explain their pricing system
