A New Era For Citi Thank You Points
« on: March 25, 2012, 06:41:15 pm »
Confirmed. Effective April 1st, Citi will allow to transfer their Thank You points to British Airways for a rate of 1:1. Till now their points were mostly useless, as its not worth more than 1¢ per point, but from now on, the BA transfer seems to be a great redemption option.

Not worth it though. Thank you points get you 1.33 cents per point towards airfare, where as BA points go for 1 cent.

JFK-YYZ can cost over 30,000 TY points if the ticket is $400
Transfer to BA and it'll only cost you 9k points...

@aryeh1 you're comparing apples to oranges. BA are 1cent per mile on a reward ticket, and TY points can be redeemed for 1.33cents for the dollar value of a paid ticket. If it costed 1cent to fly a mile you would be right.

Wow...
Maybe this will cause some like me to dust off their TY point cards once in a while..
Would be great to see citi going in the direction of Chase UR and having multiple 1:1 transfer options.

So here we go: (dono if its still available) Citi Checking = 40k; Premier Card = 50k = 90k. Any more? Their value will start to rise when selling the points. It should be worth alot as they can be used for AA bookings. Sounds great.

Or use the TY points when you're paying for travel (cash out via refundable ticket?) and buy BA Miles for 1.1 CPM.

Dan wrote on the main site, that he has confirmed this personally with Citi.
Does this sound better?
