desktop vs. laptop???????
« on: December 29, 2009, 07:14:54 PM »
My Toshiba laptop is almost dead (keeps on suddenly turning off and is very slow). I am looking to replace it. I basically use it only in the house, so should I just get a desktop? Is that cheaper? Is there reason to go for a laptop over a desktop?

Desktops are usually cheaper, but laptops are portable.  Only you can decide which one is better for you!
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Desktops are easier to work with.

Desktops usually last longer.

Desktops allow up/downgrading of hardware according to your needs.

IMHO laptops that have more than 15 inch screens are not really portable anymore.

If buying a laptop, make sure that it has at least 6 cells batteries (buying a spare one can be very useful)

Thanks Dan and Superflyer.

I think I am leaning towards desktop.

If my needs are pretty basic is there anything in particular I should be looking for in a desktop?

WOW! I was shocked that Dan answered but then I noticed the date  :D
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.
