Manage/Backup Pictures From Camera 2 Computer
« on: January 02, 2010, 09:17:25 PM »
Does Anyone have reccomendations on the easiest/simplest way to backup/store/manage pictures from a Camera (specifically a Canon SD 1200 Elph) to a Computer (Dell Inspiron 1420).  I hate all the redudancy and poor management.  Its hard to keep track of whats been stored and I end up wasting time/memory figuring it out.

Thanks.

You can write a batch file yourself (dos) making only incremental backups.

You can also search for freeware using the keyword backup, and pay attention to its rating; e.g. http://download.cnet.com/1770-2242_4-0.html?query=backup&searchtype=downloads&filter=platform=Windows,Webware&filterName=platform=Windows,Webware&tag=ltcol

Go through, and I'm sure you will find something.

what operating system do you have? I know my Vista computer only transfers the new images but the XP you have to chose. you can set your camera to create a new folder everyday so its easier to select only new images.

for keeping them organized, try Picassa 3. one of the experimental features is finding duplicate images, it worked pretty well.

Once you backed up your pictures to your computer why wouldn't you just delete them off the card?
