Banana Republic Card
« on: April 05, 2012, 02:28:32 AM »
Does anybody know the different features about this card? Does it come with a discount ONLY for the first purchase or do they have any exclusive offers for cardmembers that are worthwhile?
Anyone here owns it? Worth the pull?

I don't know much about the benefits (are there any?), but could tell you about the rewards.

I have the visa card,  so it can be used anywhere.  I get 1 point per dollar on all purchases, and 5 points per dollar on purchases made at gap/banana/old navy.

For every 1000 points you get a $10 store gc/certificate.  It expires about 5 months after you get it.  You can use a maximum of three (four?) certificates per transaction .

Basically the rewards program stinks. Except if for the instore spending.

You can probably buy gift cards with them in store (to avoid the expiration)

there are 2 banana cards a regular and a lux, the lux gets you rewards quicker.... But its still on in store purchases, and not quite worthwhile IMHO.
Also, if you have a reward for $10, and but 2 items one for $40, and one for $60 they calculate the reward @ $4 for this one, $6 for that.
The reason if you return the item, you lose the reward :( pretty sucky.

I have the Banana Luxe Visa. Its only worth it since most of the time they offer triple pionts in store. so if you shop there a decent amount the rewards are nice. Otherwise the card really stinks. I have never used it outside of a Banana

So bottom line, never a percentage off/money off offer exclusively for cardmembers?

There is.  There is an additional 10% off every tuesday in Gap/BR/Old Navy and they have special days where cardholderes get certain percentages off.  I've seen up to 30% off if you are a cardholder.  And I have Lux which gives you free shipping always even from a store and free basic alterations.

Just got a banana. I see I have to spend $800 in a calendar year to get lux status. So my Q: once I meet that spending do I stay forever with that status, or I have to spend $800 each year?

I've tried this before.

Also they aren't transferable unless the recipient has a banana crad. I've given them to other people to use and the cashier asked to see their banana card.

The cc expires in 2014 but the status/benefits don't necessarily have that same expiration date.

The card says Luxe all over it and the expiration for the card is 2014.  I can't imagine having a luxe card that doesn't have the luxe benefits.

Did an overview of T/C. First of all you must spend $800 EACH calendar year to maintain your Luxe status, second, you must do all the $800 in Banana Republic purchases, (so can't do AP shtick) so its just BS.
