i need to book this tonight or tomorrow, i wouldn't have time to apply and get approved for this card... if someone with status put the flight on hold, would i then be able to ticket it from my account without the $75 fee?

I was in the same sitch as you, so i called united and hucked one of the reps till he agreed to waive the $75 fee as a one off courtesy. He did however charge me the $25 fee for booking over the phone, and i couldnt weasel my way out of that one.

Basicaly i told them i had tried to book the ticket earlier and it didnt work so i thought i could do it later but when i tried there was a $75 fee. I complained that they never used to have this fee etc etc so in the end the CR let me off :)

just to add...all it takes is a bunch of calls...I've never had the $75 issue, but their "one time courtesy" thing has waived the $25 fee many times, free economy plus, flight changes...just call till you find the right rep for your issue...mentioning that I fly them often(somewhat true) def helps... Good luck!

I just had to book short notice award travel to visit someone in the hospital.
I was able to get the Close In fee waived, but not the $25 phone fee.
$400 flight because 20,000 United Miles and $30
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

I know there is no fee when booking for someone else with your own miles.
But I don't know how it is with a paid ticket, I imagine it would be different.

This is not a paid ticket, so there would be a fee.

@OP I'm assuming AA via BA didn't have what you needed?

Ask them to waive the phone fee since you weren't able to book online without the close in fee.

Didn't want to start a new thread, not sure where to put this...

United booked 2 tickets of mine for the wrong Award miles. The tickets are on Lufthansa. If I call to change one of the segments to a different flight is there a big chance they'll notice?

What about after I already flew one of the segments?

Will it hurt to give a try and play HUCA?

Any ideas of how to get out of paying the $75 fee they want to charge me for deleting a stopover? Besides the regular HUCA?

Deleting a stopover?

Since when does a change in routing while keeping the same o/d incur a $75 change fee?

My bad - I was deleting the destination and keeping the stopover. Meanwhile I argued enough he made a "one time exception" for me.  Tried convincing me with the money back from taxes I'd still end up getting money back after the change fee. Ha.

This is dead. Just booked a flight out 3 weeks, paid the $5.60, then went to change it and the are charging $75. It's been awesome while it worked.
