Why can't you modify a comment that you write??

I was wondering why you can't modify or delete a comment that you post here,after a short while. Sometimes you misspell a few words or wrote something that someone took offense to, and you want to rectify the situation, yet you can't do so. If you were the one that posted the comment, why shouldn't you be given the opportunity to fix it, especially if it may have offended someone, or for any other reason? On FT for example, you can always edit.

you cannot delete, but you can modify for a couple of minutes.

it seems that you can modify a comment which you made on someone elses topic, but cant modify a new topic you create...you seem to only be able to delete it...

Well that's the problem, why can't you do it a number of hours or days later,especially if someone contacted and asked you to change something, or if you realized a misspell later on?

To tell you the truth I'm not even sure how to change it, it's just on the default setting I assume.

it seems like if you add this mod and maybe update to a newer version of smf than we would be able to do that, this honestly might not be such a bad idea.

BUMP dan and various other administrators I would really like to have this feture added to the forum

 its a GREAT idea, not being able to go back and correct misinfo that was posted or correct spelling or grammar or add something that you left out is a Royal pain
