Had someone doing that in Seychelles and I called hotel security. They told me that its a huge issue with the Chinese kids who come along with their parents on vaca and have nothing to do so they snoop around with their drones and then post it on social media
Makes sense. I'd be livid if someone tried spying on me.

Have any DDF'ers flown a drone there yet?
FT consensus seems to be that it would be an invasion of privacy to fly one. Sounds like they might have a valid point.

Footage?
Any comments from neighbors?

Our final morning of the Conrad someone launched one from the villa next to ours and it was horrific.  The noise, the invasion of privacy, just so innaproriate.  The only reason I didn't call the management and/or go knock on their door to ask them to stop is because they flew it far out to sea in another direction and we were about to anyway check out.  Even if it's not forbidden it's super lame like someone swimming up next to your private pool and deck and watching you...it's the technological equivalent of that.  Obviously this isn't my forte, but I'd think if there was a reasonable chance of accidentally getting footage you didn't even mean to or intend to get you might want to ask a shaila of whether it's even halachacially permissible in a place where people have such a clear expectation of privacy.

As if you could hit the Mavic with a sling shot. Or a shot gun, for that matter.

So far I have CX J (50K AS) return flight and 3 nights Conrad Rangali (95k HH) booked for honeymoon in Sept.

I was emailed an offer for WV/SWV Upgrades $100/$200.

Thinking to continue with EK J (50K AS) outbound flight and do the SWV Upgrade.

How does that all sound so far?

Will I be utterly disappointed with the Conrad in comparison to SR and Haveli??

Any advice from you fine folks would be appreciated!!

To put things a bit in perspective, MLE is one of the prettiest places on the planet. The Conrad is a top rated resort! Are the the villas in the SR a bit more luxurious? maybe. But the notion that you would be "Utterly disappointed" is completely and utterly out of whack!!

I went to the PH which gets alot of slack around these parts, and I honestly cannot fathom any nicer (And yes I have been to many 5 star resorts..)

You will definitely enjoy the Conrad immensely, and thinking about what you may be missing at the SR and thereby dampening your vacation is a true shame.

This has been taken completely out of context. We are talking minimal differences in over the top, exorbitant luxuries!

Thanks for the positive vibes!

I'm guessing it won't be completely horrible. I do have somewhat of a budget, and the SR seems pretty harsh with the 22% fees everywhere.

Just confirmed EK J. JFK-CMB-MLE.

Decided to stop in Sri Lanka for 2 nights beforehand to spice things up!

Is that a good idea or will I regret not just spending the additional time at the Conrad? :o

How many days do you have at the Conrad now?

3 nights.

Only EK CMB-MLE flight option is 830pm, so gonna lose a night in MLE. Then the seaplane to Conrad the next morning.

We are pretty adventurous and appreciate the path less traveled.. I figured 6 nights at Conrad would become a bit too stagnant/pricey.

I'm guessing I'm in the minority for that thought process.

I spent 4 nights there (Call me crazy, but i enjoy a normal Shabbos, with davening and normal Seudos etc.. not myself in a hotel room with Pom meals) and DW and I felt it was the perfect amount of time.

Although I should note that I flew from Israel, which cut travel time in half. Many people feel if they are traveling 20+ hours to get there, they want more time.

I flew on the longest flight in the world and spent and did 2 nights in MLE and then spent Shabbos in SIN.
No shame in that IMHO. There's no right or wrong amount of time to spend in an MLE resort.

That's comforting to hear.

Looks like I have about 7 months to be indecisive about what what I will eventually end up doing.

Drop the cmb to mle portion of your itinerary and pay for a coach ticket in the morning. You don't want to spend overnight in Male.

Hotel doesn't allow it.

Yet the entire time we were there, the official hotel photographer had one in the air every day near the pool /beach area. Dw thinks she's gonna be famous now...:)

+1 or just pay the few bucks
