this is the Rabbi who leads Beth Jacob where the location is, so perhaps it's either under his supervision, or he approves of the supervision. Link: http://www.bjsd.org/rabbinical_leadership

restaurant tab on the shul website: http://www.bjsd.org/visitors

This is a great option in San Diego for summer dining. Open 5-9, prompt service by people who are real caterers/cooks prepare the food quickly. And it's good. You can call in an order as well.

Teh Rabbi of the Shul gives the hashgocha and is also part of the Vaad Hakashrus of San Diego.

Isn't it under the vaad? (not just the rabbi)? I think it was last year at least.

I keep getting conflicting views on this, does anyone know (preferably by authority of a local orthodox rabbi) whether the muffins etc. in coffee beans outside LA (or even in LA) are still reliable?

Rabbi Eidlitz of kosherquest.org took the hechsher off his "recommended" list. You have to decide what that means for you. That was the only "change."

I was there a couple nights ago. Ordered a shwarma plate. Fries were good, salad was pretty good, Shwarma was average. Idk maybe it's because I have high expectations when it comes to shwarma.

A relative of mine emailed him last week and he stated that you should pretty much not eat R' Benzaken's hashgacha which is KOLA. So pretty much the drinks are OK, as well as packaged sandwiches. Pastries are not recommended anymore.

did he give any reason? what changed? is it accepting kulos he previously didnt accept, or lapses in supervision?

I heard from a very reliable source that is has to do with a lapse in supervision
