Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

I'm not sure where to post this.
My brother sent me money through quickpay last week on Thursday, in the app under quickpay it says by that transaction "accepted" however I don't see it at all in my checking account not even as pending.
Someone else sent me money afterwards and it has completed and is available in my account.
Any thoughts as to why it might be taking so long?

If the sender's account is a non Chase account, it's perfectly normal.

Only Chase to Chase is instant. Other banks to Chase can take 3-5 days.

+1 each bank has there own money transfer system, chase seems to be the most popular and from chase to chase will be instant, I happen to use WF and there system is called Wells Fargo Sure pay and that is the same thing as Quickpay just its the WF version...and that will go from WF to WF instantly

It sounds like a lot of people will book refundable flights/hotels to take advantage of airline or travel credits. I've also read of people doing the same on Barclay and similar cards to utilize points/miles/CB due to the risk of high balances and possible shut down.

1.Are there data points of people doing the same to MS for minimum spend vs actual spend and/or going the GC route?
2. Is there a thread related to this topic and one that addresses the risk of shut down utilizing this method vs. the more typical MS methods?
3. May I please have a link?
4. Would appreciate any personal data points and results of those that have booked tickets/rooms for min. spend and/or to build up additional points.

I'm sure I'll get " yes,yes and....

Hope this isn't an epic fail in trying to word questions correctly and avoid just yes and no answers due to rhetorical questions. Someone could answer 3 as yes, but not provide link which leaves #4 as potentially the most useful information....

Only one account has to be chase.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Some things are better off not having threads, IMVHO.

Fair enough. So instead of yes or no answers, I get that. Lol. Kinda funny when I was trying so hard to avoid the former. I'm still new at this but have been trying to extrapolate what little I do know.

You can only check SQ flights (JFK-FRA) on SQ site.
