Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

Why should I call them if i wasn't rejected yet? I just applied last night... Shouldn't Iwait to call recon until he actually gets rejected. Please advise, I am a rookie.

Just one more q: It seems that meeting a spending threshold isn't so difficult with Amazon payment. It allows for $1000 a month! I don't see meeting the spending threshold as the problem, I just want to make sure that I can get approved for 2 or 3 amex cards as i don't want to waste a hard pull. In the past, people have gotten approved with no problem, even after just applying for another card. correct?

Yes, people get approved for 2/3 Amex cards all the time. It depends on your credit history and score.

Does Amex pull from the same bureaus as Chase where you live?

I don't know, how would i figure that out?

I just called the reconsideration department and was told that the application is going through another managers review and they expect me to be approved. Should i be nervous that they didn't tell me that I didn't get the decision on the phone?

I got approved for the the 2 chase cards the BA (50000) and Chase Safire preferred (40000). One instant and one with reconsideration. Firstly, what's the best way to see if I got one or two pulls? Secondly, if it only counted as one pull, is it prudent to go ahead and do a 2BM with Amex?

I bet this has been spoken about, where can I read about it? Please advise.

The best way is to look at your credit report.

Where do you live? Does AMEX pull from same bureau as Chase by you?

So Experian will only cause a soft pull and therefore will not hurt my credit. Also, is there a way to find out where the various CC companies pull in your area? Perhaps, Monsey would be different than the bronx...

thanks

SO I just checked my credit score on Exprerian. Thankfully, the score was 772 and my recent 2 B/M with Chase only counted as one pull. Is it prudent for me to go ahead and apply for a 2 or 3 BM method with Amex or Citi. I see that Chase pulls in NY from Experian and the same is true with Amex. Citi, on the other hand, pulls from Equifax.

How does this affect which card I should apply for?

Thanks

Can Amex BC or BCP be converted into MR points?
